If you're hitting the road for just a few months you can take advantage of our short term plans rather than an annual contract. Short term is defined as a minimum of 3 months up to 9 months. Customers who just head south for the winter don't have to sign up for year round service. Please feel free to contact our Customer Service Specialists with any questions or sign up now online!
How to sign up
- Start the process online now
- Complete and sign the required forms. The forms include:
- Change of Address Checklist
- Mail Forwarding Agreement — Includes pricing information. You will fund a postage account for $75.
- Terms & Conditions
- USPS Form 1583 (PDF) with instructions. Form 1583 must be notarized and accompanied by two types of identification for each person on the account.
Send the completed forms to: DakotaPost, 3916 N. Potsdam Ave., Sioux Falls, S.D. 57104-7048.
Once the forms are received, DakotaPost will contact you to verify and assign your new mailbox.
You will receive a “welcome e-mail” from DakotaPost. It will ask for verification and provide instructions for accessing the Client Portal. On your first mailing, you will also receive a DakotaPost ID card imprinted with your mailing address and DakotaPost’s contact information.

We currently utilize USPS & FedEx for our shipping carriers.
- Mail Forwarding: Utilized by full and part time travelers, we have flexible plans designed to meet a variety of needs including: RVers, travelers, international travelers, military personnel, etc. If you are not at one address for long or constantly updating your mail address, then this is the service for you!
- Request Your Mail or Update Your Address: Our newly designed Client Portal gives you the control to update your address and to request your mail. You can always email or call us with any updates. Simply let us know if the address is a one-time only address or one we should mail to until you let us know differently.
- Delivery Confirmation: Priority Mail is sent out with a delivery confirmation as well as a tracking number that we can provide you. You are free to choose a different service though we highly recommend utilizing the ability to track your mail.
